Over recent years, four studies have been undertaken by the doctoral students at Newcastle University relating to FII under the supervision of Dr Fiona Gullon-Scott.

The studies currently remain 'grey literature' as they are not yet formally published in any journals - so come with necessary cautions. They are also all qualitative with relatively small numbers of participants. However, they do shed light on the experiences of parents, children and professionals involved in FII investigations.

Dr Gullon-Scott has produced a document which synthesises the results and includes recommendations that stem from the studies. In addition, there is a Collective Themes Map, and a Guide to that Map.
